For those who can already sail or windsurf, membership of the Welsh Harp Sailing Club means you can sail and windsurf every day of the year, using our large selection of club boats and boards free of charge. For those with their own boats and boards, we have a large boat park and storage facilities.

Learn to sail and windsurf free

Members who would like to learn to sail or windsurf can join our weekly free teaching sessions. Run on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, we have a large team of instructors and race coaches to help you progress. Thursdays are a social night and after coached time on the water, the bar is open, these is a freshly cooked, homemade meal and a chance to meet and chat to others. After Saturday training, there is a chance to stay for the afternoon racing and join for afternoon tea and cakes.  

We also run RYA certificate courses to help boost your sailing and members get a special discounted rate. Non-members can also get the discount if they take up membership after the course. If you have any questions at all, do get in touch.

Try before you buy

Book on to one of our sailing or windsurfing taster sessions to get a feel for the club and for windsurfing and if you join the club, we will discount the cost of the tasters off your membership. For experienced sailors / racers do get in touch direct to come along to the club.

Juniors – learn to sail!

We run 5 day sailing courses from Monday-Friday during the Easter, May half term and the Summer holidays, catering for all abilities and for ages 9-16 years

We follow the RYA Youth syllabus and sessions are taught by RYA Instructors in a fun and supportive environment, through a mixture of formal and informal practical and theory sessions.

We also run weekly sessions on a Thursday evening and Saturday morning as well as tasters for those who would like have a try before them commit. Head to our bookings page to see what is on or email if you have any questions.

Join our large race fleets

We run twice weekly single class fleet racing for GP14s and ILCAs (Lasers) on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons and have one of the largest GP14 fleets in the country. Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets means there is exciting racing for all levels. We also host and attend many opens and regattas.

For those who would like to move into racing from recreational sailing, we run weekly development sessions on Saturday mornings including novice racing and there are often opportunities to race with an experienced helm in the afternoon. Do get in touch if you would like to find out more

Offshore Sailing

Brisbane Star is a privately owned 37-foot 6-berth yacht, fully equipped for offshore cruising and the owner, a longstanding member of WHSC, very kindly offers opportunities for our members to join the boat for day, weekend or longer trips.
