Why join the Welsh Harp Sailing Club?
In London
The Welsh Harp Sailing Club is lucky enough to sail on one of London’s hidden gems - The Welsh Harp or Brent Reservoir is 125 acres of open water less than 10 miles from the centre of London and only a few minutes from Wembley Stadium and Brent Cross Shopping Centre.
Class Racing
We have one of the largest fleets of GP14s in the country, with class racing on Saturday afternoons all year round and on Tuesday evenings from April to September.
We have a group of enthusiastic Laser sailors who are keen to see the fleet grow. They have separate starts on the same race days.
Windsurfing
Windsurfing on the Welsh Harp is best suited to beginners up to intermediate windsurfers offering a space to learn, race and just windsurf for fun. As a Club run by volunteers we rely on everyone getting involved and being part of the Club in order for us to continue to offer good quality equipment, facilities and training.
The Windsurfing Team offers Windsurfing Training and Taster sessions on a Thursday evening, usually from mid-May through to early September. For further details please check the Windsurfing page.
Yachting
Many of our dinghy sailors also sail in bigger boats owned or chartered by members who are experienced, qualified yachtsmen. This is a great way to get yachting without having to join a Yacht Club far from home and without having to own your own boat.
Training
Don’t know how to sail? Can’t afford a boat?
Membership includes free use of boats, boards, wetsuits and training for both dinghies and windsurfing.
There is FREE training each Thursday evening in the summer, with qualified RYA Instructors followed by home cooked food in our warm and comfortable clubhouses. Families can get out on the water at the same time,
with children learning with or separately from their Mum & Dad, as they choose.
We are an RYA Training centre which means you can be assured that training is both safe and run to a world recognised standard. Please check our TRAINING page for details more details and booking links.
There is free improver training on Saturday morning and 2 day RYA Level 1/ 2, courses at various times throughout the year for a small fee.
Children
Children from age 8 can learn to sail with their family on Thursday evenings and Saturday morning sessions are run for those with some experience – April to October.
Social
We have two warm and comfortable clubhouses (see Club History) with hot showers, bar and kitchen for use of members. Tea & Coffee is free and we serve home cooked meals for about £3 on Thursday evenings April to September. 'There is wheelchair access and an accessible toilet. The bar is open after racing - Saturday and Tuesday; during and after training - Thursday.
We have a great club atmosphere with social events throughout the year, including skiing holidays, cruising weekends (in dinghies), quiz nights, Burns’ Night Ceilidhs, Fireworks parties, Christmas parties…
For opportunities for Sailability - sailing for people with disabilities - see Sailability.

Since WHSC is a non-profit making club run by volunteers only, costs are kept to a minimum and money can be reinvested back into club kit to keep it up to date and of good quality.
