Sailing with Spinnakers March 2019

The spinnaker is a very important sail on the GP14.  Learning to use it successfully can add a great deal to your enjoyment of sailing and it will improve your racing a great deal!

This is a two-day course for Club members on Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st  March 2019 and will be run by Roger Walton.  You need to attend both days to complete the course.

Essential previous experience: A season of sailing, be able to safely control the boat without an instructor in it and have achieved RYA Level 2 or equivalent experience.

Please arrive by 09:15 for a 09:45 prompt start.

The course covers

  • how to rig the boat with a spinnaker

  • gybe and recover two types of spinnaker (we will use conventional symmetric and asymmetric spinnakers)

  • how to sail the best possible course flying a spinnaker

  • how to deal with the challenges of sailing a spinnaker
