Channel crossing, creek-crawling, island dodging, rock-hopping, langoustines, crêpes, Muscadet – that’s cruising WHSC-style.
Following last year’s very successful trip to the West Country and Scilly, this summer we plan to visit Alderney, Guernsey, and the north coast of Brittany, between St Malo and Morlaix.
Whether you’re an experienced sailor or a total novice, you’re welcome to join Maurice’s Brisbane Star, a 37-foot Bavaria yacht fully-equipped for fun, comfort and safe sailing.
It’s an opportunity to develop yachting skills, log sea-time (including night miles), practise navigation, or just relax and watch the sea and the stars.
Come for a weekend, a week or the whole fortnight – crew-change options are planned for Alderney, St Malo, the Roscoff area and Guernsey, all accessible via ferry from Portsmouth.
DATES: Friday June 3rd (leaving Gosport for an overnight passage to Guernsey) to the weekend of June 18th/19th.
COST SHARING: Will be £37 per person per day or £485 for the whole two trip, plus a share of diesel, food and mooring bills (roughly between £18 and £40 per day between the crew). There will probably be a (small) increase in this. Any travel expenses are your own affair. The ideal crew is six people - two watches of three for the long legs.
All abilities welcome - including complete novices.
We’ll be running Passage Planning sessions at WHSC for people who want to measure RYA theory against a real cruising project. These will be on a couple of Saturday mornings in May before racing.
