AMERICA’S CUP WORLD SERIES – Portsmouth 23rd to 26th July 2015
Ben Ainslie’s bid to bring the America’s Cup back to the UK encompasses the event in July racing foiling AC45’s off Southsea. The UK entry is being promoted by Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR) which is located in Portsmouth.
Brisbane Star is berthed in Gosport opposite the BAR operation in Portsmouth and will be used partly as an ‘hotel’ (you try getting a room anywhere in the area then); partly as a floating viewing platform and partly to enable us to go sailing too.
Take a look at the America’s Cup brochure reproduced here to get a feel for what the event will provide. There is a lot of detail to be published yet so it is not possible to say exactly what we will be able to do, but this will be a rare opportunity to see World Class sailing for real. The sailing programme is shewn below - please look online at the event organisers ‘ Team Origin’ web site and at the ‘America’s Cup’ site for further information and the full programme.
Wednesday evening 22nd July to Sunday evening 26th July (4 full days).
Cost: £170 per person + food & fuel.
See 'How to get to the boat' for travel and other information.
First come first served basis. A non returnable deposit of £70 must be paid to remain on the list. I will keep a reserve list in case anyone has to drop out. The time on board could be extended by popular demand (at an extra cost).
