Sing out the Old!
An evening of carol singing with mulled wine and mince pies was a tradition for many years in Seahorse and is fast becoming a popular tradition in WHSC.
Thanks to our new Social Secs, Lydia and Yasmin, the clubhouse looked beautiful with a big Christmas tree, strings of lights and baubles in the window; even the moths twinkled, flittering by outside! David and Andrea Rose organised a huge vat of mulled wine, spiced apple and platefuls of warm nibbles and mince pies. Tony presided as M/C and projected the words on the wall, Phillip Matthewman sat down at his electric piano – and with over 30 members, friends and family (and Lightsabres!) we were off.
And something new! As an addition to the traditional mix of carols and seasonal songs we were especially lucky this year to enjoy the talents of members Susie Meszaros on viola and soprano Demi Trenholm, who entertained us with solos, accompanied by Phillip. It was lovely to hear professional music-making while we rested our voices. Apparently there are quite a few other musicians in the club – maybe we could gather together a small orchestra next year!
A big thank you to everyone who brought delicious food and helped prepare, serve and clear up!
Happy Christmas and and a Happy New Year to all.
