Notice of Race
NOTICE OF RACE – GP14 OPEN MEETING
A regatta series of up to 3 races will be held at Welsh Harp Sailing Club on Saturday 6th April forming a part of the GP14 Association’s Southern Travellers Series.
1 ORGANISING AUTHORITY
The organising authority will be Welsh Harp Sailing Club
2.1 The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing, the RYA prescriptions and the rules of the GP14 Class Association.
2.3 All advertising shall comply with ISAF rule 20
2.4 Competitors will always be required to wear adequate personal buoyancy whilst afloat. Wet suits and dry suits are not personal flotation devices. This changes Rule 40 and the preamble to Part 4.
3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 Entry is open to all boats of the GP14 class that comply with the GP14 Class Association Rules (latest edition is at www.gp14.org)
3.2 Registration/Entries may be accepted up to 30 minutes before the first start.
3.3 Entry fees will be £16 per boat
4 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
4.1 Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.
5 RACING PROGRAMME
5.1 The racing Programme as described in the Sailing Instructions. It is intended that a briefing will take place at approximately 10:15 It is intended that the warning signal for the first race will be made not before 10:55 . there will be a break for lunch after race one followed by two races back to back.
6.1 Courses will be set by the Race Officer and displayed on the committee boat.
6.3 Start Line will be between the mast on the committee boat and a white buoy set by the race officer.
7.1 Scoring system shall be as in the Sailing Instruction.
7.2 There will be 3 races scheduled. It is intended that one race be required to be completed to constitute the series. If three races are completed a boat’s worst score shall be excluded. If less than three races are completed, no score shall be excluded.
7.3 R.R.S Appendix A will apply using the A4 Low Points system
8 FUNDAMENTAL RULES AND RISK ASSESSMENT
8.1 R.R.S Part 1 Fundamental Rules will apply
8.2 R.R.S 4 states ”The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone”
9 LIABILITIES AND INSURANCE
9.1 Sailing is by nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:
(a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure to themselves, their crew, their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part;
(b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their property whether afloat or ashore;
(c) They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;
(d) Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate
(e) The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers by the event organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;
(f) The provision of a patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances
(g) Their boat is adequately insured, with cover of at least £3,000,000 against third party claims
10 OTHER INFORMATION

10.2 Entrants and authorized guests are temporary members of WHSC during the period of the event and shall comply with Club Rules and Bylaws. Failure to observe these rules may result in the imposition of penalties, including disqualification from the event.
